Picture Books

It all started with a simple sentence. Nearly a year ago, I was sitting in a room and the sentence "Once there was a day without sun" popped into my head. I thought to myself, "That would be an interesting way to begin a story."  I wrote it down. About 5 months later, I was lying in bed and the words that came after that initial phrase popped into my head. I wrote them all down. About 2 months after that, I drew my first illustration for this story. Next thing I knew, I had created a children's book.

I wrote a story that I would read to my students. A story beginning with the disappearance of the sun, a constant, is very perplexing and raises many questions. I wanted to create a story that would encourage children to wonder and dig deeper. I also wanted to encourage creativity, curiosity, sense of self, and determination through the words and illustrations of this story.
